Testimony on the Origin of Jikiden Reiki

Translation of the original by José Neves, Jikiden Reiki Shihan

At one point in the history of Reiki, it was believed that the Reiki Western Style was the only Reiki would have survived a and that there would be more practitioners in Japan. So when Reiki was reintroduced in Japan remained interested visit to America North to learn.

In fact, there have always been successors to Reiki in Japan. They are:

The Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, the organization founded by Reiki Mikao Usui Sensei.

This organization, until now, remains virtually unknown in the world due to its decision to remain a closed group.

Students of Chujiro Hayashi Sensei (a prominent student of Usui sensei), which includes:

Hawayo Takata : a Japanese American from Hawaii, considered responsible for bringing Reiki to the West. Hawayo Takata was diagnosed as seriously ill by her doctor and was told that her average life expectancy would not be long. However, she recovered "miraculously" when she started receiving Reiki after meeting Chujiro Hayashi in Japan. After her recovery she became a student of Hayashi Sensei and gave Reiki treatments in Hawaii. She trained 22 Reiki Teachers before she died. The dispersion of Reiki around the world began with Hawayo Takata.

Chiyoko Yamaguchi , my mother, who learned Reiki directly from Chujiro Hayashi about 60 years ago, in 1938, when she was just 17 years old. My mother Chiyoko and Hawayo Takata learned from the same prominent Usui Sensei student, Chujiro Hayashi Sensei. She practiced Reiki daily since her initiation and for 65 years until her death in 2003, at the age of 81. During my childhood I learned from experience that colds or flu, headaches and wounds, etc. they were easily cured by my mother's Reiki treatments. I was able to fully understand the effectiveness of Reiki from an early age through my own Healing experiences. Having immersed myself in my mother's memories, old documents and photos, I discovered that it was Chujiro Hayashi Sensei who started my mother in Reiki.

One day, while attending a healing workshop held in Tokyo, I met a Reiki teacher who framed me about the situation of Reiki today in Western countries. I was surprised to learn of the number of people who practiced Reiki in the West and realized that energy healing was being accepted in modern society. It was through the calls he provided that many renowned Japanese Reiki teachers began to visit my mother. After receiving several visits, many Reiki teachers from outside Japan came to visit her as they wanted to meet a student who had been taught directly by Hayashi Sensei.

I was informed in great detail by a Western Style Reiki teacher about the basic framework and also about the current situation of Reiki that was broadcast in Japan. Those who visited my mother told us that its existence was very precious and that it would be a misfortune for her to stay hidden.

Since then, my mother Chiyoko and I have been asked to teach Jikiden Reiki, Reiki without Western influence. After about a year, we were frequently receiving requests for training and people were very happy for the opportunity to receive Reiju from my mother.

On the other hand, some unpleasant situations continued to happen. Dishonest people announced that they learned Jikiden Reiki without completing the course. In addition, rumors based on misunderstandings have started to spread.

Fortunately we received support from some Reiki masters who suggested:

"What if they reproduced a Seminar that faithfully followed the way their mother learned Reiki from Chujiro Hayashi more than 60 years ago and issued a Certificate for those who completed the Training?"

Until that moment, we taught Reiki in particular.

We now allowed anyone interested to learn Reiki.

A "Jikiden Reiki Seminar" is the first Traditional Reiki Seminar available to the public in Japan and around the world.
